Jaslyn Cakes

Cakes and baked goods reign supreme at Jaslyn, a charming place that envelopes you with the aroma of freshly baked goods as you walk in. Try not to be overwhelmed at the display, which is filled with an abundance of treats like cakes, banana yoghurt loaves, blondies, canelés, financiers, lemon bars, madeleines, brownies and more. Simply start at the beginning, and take it from there.

Inside Scoop

Inside Scoop goes big, not just in variety but also in taste. With over 30 flavours on their current menu, this home-grown ice cream brand doesn’t skimp on quality, with rich and decadent options (like the creamy cempedak or teh tarik) alongside light but flavourful alternatives (a range of refreshing sorbets). Remember to make space for the fluffy waffles that complement the ice cream perfectly.

Foo Foo Fine Desserts

Since its opening, Foo Foo has firmly entrenched itself in KL’s dessert scene with its roster of elegantly plated desserts. Classics like crispy profiteroles and delicate pavlovas are given the royal treatment, while innovative flavours like black pepper mango ice cream keep things interesting. This cosy nook is a great place to discover new desserts beyond the conventional chocolate or vanilla ice cream.

Strangers at 47

Far from being strangers in the neighbourhood, Strangers at 47 is a two-lot space that gets busy on the weekends. It’s all about the crêpes here, with both sweet and savoury offerings presenting whimsical creations that aim to please. Popular options include the Red Riding Hood (a Strangers interpretation of red velvet dessert), cendol cheesecake and matcha lava cake.

Kind Kones

Proclaiming to be Malaysia’s first vegan ice cream bar, Kind Kones offers natural, dairy-free ice cream which make for indulgent, guilt-free treats. The dairy base is replaced with nut milks, which makes the ice cream lighter and more delicate, with an interestingly pleasing aftertaste. Flavours are typically on rotation, and there are familiar options like Mocha Almond Choc Chip and Salted Gula Melaka as well.
