Opened by Malaysian Louis, and his wife of Thai descent, Prinyanut, Riverboat is a cosy Thai restaurant in Taman Desa. Interiors are simple (warm lights, wooden tables and a counter dotted with miniature tuk-tuks made from soda cans), making it a great spot to drop by for dinner on quiet weekdays. Specialising in home-cooked fare (think barbecued pork neck grilled on charcoal, papaya salad, khao ka moo), Riverboat is one of the more popular Thai restaurants in Old Klang Road. Their version of boat noodles – with a hearty soup base and generous ingredients – is one of the better ones we’ve had in KL. More highlights: salt-grilled tilapia, clams in Thai sauce and tom yum goong.
