Those sad about the demise of the 17-year-old Ming Tien food court in Taman Megah will be happy to find out that a number of hawkers can be found on its new premises in Bandar Utama. Housed in what was the Zam Zam Café & Satay Club at the corner of Lebuh Bandar Utama turning into the Sprint Highway, the three-level food court features over 40 stalls, ample indoor seating and a big screen dedicated to showing live sports. The vibe here isn’t quite the same – we didn’t see any Hawaiian shirt-clad waiters that was a feature in the original Ming Tien, for one thing – but given enough time, the place will find its own character.
Not every stall has moved here from Taman Megah – some have moved to K88 Food Court in Taman Goodwood on Jalan Klang Lama – but those that can be found here include the stalls selling grilled fish, wan tan mee, satay, fish head curry and belacan fried chicken. There are a few dozen designated parking bays, but they get filled up fast during peak periods, so it’s best to come early or face having to park at the side of the road.
