SS2 durian lovers, rejoice. If you want a non-messy durian dessert that doubles as a cool treat to beat the heat, have house-made Musang King ice cream at Kampung Durian House.
Opened last year, the shop's claim to fame is its organic durians that are planted without chemicals from their Pahang orchard. Every morning, the thorny fruits are shipped from the orchard to the SS2 shop to maintain freshness and taste. The durians were sold out during our visit but we were told they have a variety such as Musang King, Udang Merah, Tekka, D24, D88, D101 and more. Instead, we had the famed Musang King ice cream available in three forms: in a cone (RM4), a small plastic cup (RM5) and a tall plastic cup (RM6.50).
Herbal drinks and chilled coconut water are also available for those who have to appease their grandmothers who say that durians are 'heaty' and must be followed by a cooling drink. Speaking of all things cool, look forward to having ais kacang with your durian as there are plans to introduce it soon.
