It doesn’t feel quite right to call Flaaah a bakery. Sure, it serves all the hits, but it aims for something more considered and refined than anything we’ve previously experienced prior to lunch—and now that galettes, pockets, sandos and more hot food are on the menu, it feels more apt to think of Flaaah as a brunch destination.
Breads are baked fresh with no additives or preservatives. Croissants are the stars of the show here: sweet variants are almond and peanut butter and jam, while savoury includes chicken confit rilette, pesto, pepperoni and cheese. Galettes are stuffed with spinach or topped with beef bacon, sun-dried tomatoes and shaved cheese; sandwiches are piled high with roasted peppers, torched broccoli, or pulled lamb and yogurt. There are also loaves and toasts and pies and tarts.
Pair any of the above with a coffee or tea, and you’ve divined the recipe for one of the city’s best bakery brunches.
