Best nitro coffee in KL

Cooler than cold brew - literally

Advertising

Nitro coffee, one of the many variations of cold coffee, is basically cold brew infused with nitrogen and served from a tap. It makes for a very pretty sight with the cascading effect and frothy head, much like a pint of Guinness but without the alcohol. Nitro coffee is refreshing, slightly effervescent, very chilled, and has a silky smooth texture – perfect for our hot weather. Plus, unlike regular cold brews, nitro coffee is slightly sweeter and typically has a chocolatey or malty aftertaste.

The Nitro Black Matter at PULP is made with a Guatemalan Finca San Antonio roast that has been brewed for ten hours. PULP serves their nitro coffee in a short pint glass, and you have a good ten seconds to watch the cool cascading effect before it settles. The version here is well balanced with a silky texture, hints of cherry and a chocolatey aftertaste.

This is one for the newbies – a gateway nitro coffee if you will. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s Nitro Cold Brew has minimal bitterness and acidity, making it a very pleasant drink. It’s light, but still retains the signature crisp and refreshing quality of a nitro coffee. The beans are of Ethiopian and Balinese origins, and they’re subjected to a 20-hour coldsteeping process before being infused with nitrogen.

Artisan Roast’s Nitrokopi is made with seasonally sourced beans, meaning you probably won’t get the same flavours each time you order. Regardless of which beans are used, the process is always the same – the beans are steeped for 24 hours before Manuka honey is added to the cold brew; nitrogen gas is then introduced and the mixture is left untouched for another 24 hours. The result is a silky smooth ice cold beverage with a full-bodied texture and a chocolatey, nutty aftertaste.
