We reckon this banana leaf place has the wherewithal to go national but has the tenacity not to let its popularity go to its head. Upon stepping into this dilapidated yet charming looking shophouse, the term ‘mess-hall’ comes to mind with its long rows of tables. As a Chettinad restaurant, they specialise in the spicy and aromatic cuisine that hails from Tamil Nadu. Heady curries are heaped onto rice (choose from biryani or white rice) on individual banana leaves. Scoop up the rasam, warm rice and dhal into your mouth and that will guarantee your place in the queue that snakes around this joint every Sunday.
