Limablas is Mesui’s representation of the quasi-Malaccan shop house. The Nyonya restaurant’s nooks, corners and middles are filled to the seams with old typewriters, dirty sacks, spice jars, rickety tables, ornate signboards, vintage posters, a rusty bicycle and incidentally, a lazy, dim hue. The designer – the man behind Kota Damansara’s stunner, The Tranquerah – has nailed the nostalgia theme that so many KL restaurants have reached for. Decor aside, highlights here include the pai tee, sambal udang petai, geram pedas (much like assam pedas but with the nuttiness of candlenut) and cendol (the version here is creamy but not overbearingly sweet with gula Melaka).
