Sandwiched discreetly between the looming Sri Kandaswamy Temple and Wei-Ling Gallery, blink and you’ll miss Lawanya, and be worse off for it. The family who run this stall are silent but efficient – quietly confident in the quality of food they offer. People gorge on their authentic Indian food (you have to try the mutton curry, mixed vegetables and chicken varuval) and come back for more. Whether it’s for a quick bite or a hastily packed lunch, this charming stall is a must-visit. But don’t feel like you have to do it too soon – Lawanya has been around for more than quarter of a century and will surely hang around for years to come.
