Kaffa sports entrance blinds with caricatures of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe – a striking first impression. Once inside, the minimal lighting and raw brick setup make it look like the kind of personal coffee bar that makes you feel victorious for having discovered. The menu is standard – lattes, cappuccinos and iced drinks fill out most of it, but you also get the occasional pasta or sandwich. The beans used here a pre-roasted blend from Sumatra and Jawa that produces lighter, medium-bodied cuppas that’s better for leisurely noons rather than frenzied coffee runs. If you’re hankering for cake, Darren’s Not So Cheesy Cheesecake has the body of whipped cream and the taste of cream cheese.
