Nagaba is a multi-space venue with something for everyone. On the ground floor, you have a beautifully designed air-conditioned space – a legacy from the venue’s previous incarnation as The Establishment bar (the side mural of Amy Winehouse, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe is still there). Essentially a lounge, the lofty, industrial chic vibe is elevated with clusters of handsome leather sofas reminiscent of a worldly gentleman’s study.
On the first floor, you have the club floor of Nagaba, where the EDM series Ohrwurm holds its house music nights on Fridays, featuring a selection of well-acclaimed DJs. That’s not it; there are parties for other genres too, such as deep house, drum and bass, and funk.
Up on the roof is a cool alfresco space that feels far removed from the craziness of Changkat’s main drag. Known as the Mojito Rooftop Bar, it is laidback and leafy, with a charming DIY feel to it – metal drums as tables, benches fashioned out of crates, and strings of colour light bulbs form a web across the top. It’s totally chill.
