‘Concept club’ is a rising trend. These clubs are usually big on aesthetics, and owners spend loads of money on visuals, décor and acoustics. Aquasonic, with its literal water theme, is all that.
Taking over the short-lived Opera, Aquasonic is huge, and it shares the roof with Celcom Blue Cube and Studio Lounge. Staying true to their aesthetic, the dance club is modelled after a giant underwater aquarium with blue hues and wave lightings enhancing the overall experience. Pretty cool, we must say. There’s more to the water theme: The highlight of the club is the real-life model posing as a mermaid in an aquarium. Mermaid in a club? We reckon you didn’t see that coming.
On top of that, you can expect cutting edge 3D LED lighting, drinks promotions and resident DJs who spin a very mixed bag of tunes. We like the idea of having fresh and unique concepts, and Aquasonic is playing it well. If they can hold up to it, it might be a mainstay. Otherwise, they can always hire a male model to pose as a merman. Ian Loh
