YouTube is a great educational and entertainment tool, more so now than usual. These channels are aimed at younger kids and will keep active minds focused with bright animation, simple narration and interesting topics including what viruses are, why hand washing is important (the Baby Shark version is a winner!) and how to keep occupied while staying at home.

P.E. with Joe

Joe Wicks is known as The Body Coach and famed for creating home workouts mostly revolving around HIIT. He started as a personal trainer and has become one of the most famous online fitness advocates in the UK with cookbooks and millions tuning into his exercise videos. He has now come up with a fantastic daily programme called P.E. with Joe focusing on getting kids who are currently at home moving and keeping fit. It’s good for any age group and a fun way for the whole family to begin their day. And, don’t think this is child’s play – we’ve heard of quite a few parents working up a good sweat after these sessions!

The animated Dr Binocs brings viewers on interesting adventures to discover science and natural history. Concepts like why cats always land on their feet or why mosquitoes bite, alongside videos on the types of clouds or weird animals of the world are explained by simple narration suitable for kids to understand. There are also chapters on the Nipah virus or invention of common items like the sticky note or pencil.

Storybots

Classic children’s songs like ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ and ‘Wheels on the Bus’ are jazzed up and presented by colourful animated robots singing and dancing to them, which make for a very entertaining few minutes. Themed songs that cover topics like animals, the human body, basic geography and more are suitable for older kids. The lively videos are a fun and educational tool designed to keep young minds focused.
