On the last weekend of May, visit the Kuala Lumpur Big Kitchen Festival that has over 60 booths serving Malaysian (from street to heritage food) dishes, cooking workshops by Malaysian and international chefs, performances, and the Big Kitchen Big Race, a competition to create KL’s signature dish and mocktail. The festival is curated by Chef Norman Musa. Other featured chefs who will be at the festival include Martin Yan, Malcolm Goh, Isadora Chai, Darren Chin, Adu Amran, Mark Jarvis and Will Meyrick. There will be eight sections or 'villages', including Negeri (signature dishes from the country's 13 states), Warung (local street food), Manisan (desserts), Food Trucks, Warisan (heritage dishes), Samplings (featuring booths from five-star hotel restaurants), The Dulang and The Mayor's Courtyard (fine dining).
You can also catch live performances by local acts including Syafinaz Selamat, Man Bai, Sasi the Don and Zainal Abidin among many more.
Take note that transactions are done using 'kupang', the festival's designated tokens you can buy at the festival entrance.
