Best Ramly burger stalls

Home of the famous Master Burger (two Ramly beef/chicken patties with egg and cheese), the stall has been manned by Abang John (whose real name is Kahar) for more than a decade. It sits in a quieter corner of Restoran Kopitiam Bintang, away from the crowded dai chow shops down the road. Ramly burgers are known for customisations; if you can’t decide, ask for the ‘kahwin’ version, where Abang John puts together one chicken patty and a beef patty in one burger – it’s genius.

Having set up shop since 1995 in front of a 7-Eleven at Sea Park, this food truck caters more for takeaways due to its constricted space next to a busy road. Despite the inconvenient venue, Zainal Abidin – whose son is working alongside him in the family business – has no trouble getting customers.

This Ramly burger truck ups the ante by featuring a barbecue grill, used to cook certain dishes – the Grill Burger Jumbo, for example – on their extensive menu. In a small area next to it, tables and chairs are arranged for dining or waiting. If you’re unsure of what to order, try the Extravaganza Burger with their special mushroom sauce.

According to current owner Wan (it has gone through a few changes of hands since its beginning), this particular burger stand, located at the right end of the row of mamak stalls, has been in operation since the 1980s. Menu is kept to the basics and the food churned out is consistent.

It appears to be an upgraded version of the familiar Ramly burger roadside stall or food truck. Expect to find the typical menu at this kiosk – you can order your double-patty combos and specials throughout the day. In addition, it offers breakfast sets that pair your burger with a hot drink and fries.
