Tried and tested: grocery delivery service PasarTap

What’s the promise?
Mobile grocery service PasarTap gets you fresh goods from the pasar. For now it’s from the Chow Kit wet market, but they plan on expanding to other parts of the Klang Valley by sourcing from other neighborhood markets as well. For dry goods, PasarTap collaborates with a few supermarkets. With a minimum order of RM20, you’ll get your goods within two hours, with a RM3 flat rate delivery surcharge. Delivery times are between 8am-5pm daily. Plus, the delivery areas are pretty extensive – Ampang, Puchong, Shah Alam, Kajang, Cheras and more.

How does it work?
The app is pretty simple to navigate: pick from the different categories of fruits, vegetables (they even have buah keluak), poultry, meat, seafood (ikan siakap, kepala tenggiri, catfish and more), groceries, home products, baby and personal care, plus wildcard PasarTap packs (the ‘Bujang Lapar’ pack includes sustenance for the frugal bachelor) at special prices.

Verdict?
Cash for convenience. As it’s currently cash on delivery (other options such as credit or debit card, PayPal and online transfer are in the works), it’s a straightforward process. Our order arrived within two hours, and the staff even called to notify us of the unavailability of an item, with the suggestion of a replacement. The products came in plastic bags (like it’s from the market), and they were fresh. The variety of items may not be the most comprehensive right now, but for the price of getting market-fresh produce, PasarTap is a sweet deal.

The app is available for download from the Apple App Store. For more info, visit www.pasartap.com
