School’s out until June 12 and if you’re wondering what to do to keep little hands and minds busy, here are some ideas to take the pressure off and ensure that a good time is had by all.
Movie fun at the mall
Movie-themed fun can be found at several shopping malls around KL: ‘Finding Dory’ and an underwater spectacle at Sunway Putra Mall and Sunway Pyramid, the Angry Birds settling in at Mid Valley, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ at Pavilion, Transformers Autobots at 1Utama, and an ice gliding rink at Atria Shopping Gallery themed on the upcoming 'Ice Age: Collision Course' film. Expect activities, pop-up stores, parties and a chance to win cool merchandise.
Balloon fun
Meanwhile, IPC Shopping Centre and Setapak Central have each set up a balloon play land for kids. At IPC, little ones will be wowed by the massive wildlife installation made out of 40,000 balloons, designed to educate kids all about endangered animals in a fun and educational way (fun fact: the balloons are made from 100 percent natural latex so they won't harm the planet). At Setapak Central, the Underwater World Balloon Fair lets your kids swim in a sea of balloons complete with balloon underwater sea creatures.
‘Barbie: World of Endless Possibilities’ exhibition
Check out an extensive display of over 250 Barbie dolls and the iconic fashion doll's many personas since her debut in 1959. The exhibition at Sunway Pyramid’s Orange Concourse features six sections – 'Barbie Then & Now', 'Barbie Around the World', 'Barbie Careers', 'Barbie, The Muse', 'The Evolution of Barbie' and 'Barbie's Imagination' – and will even have some fun activities for kids including cupcake decorating, arts and crafts, storytelling and playing dress-up.
Wall climbing
As it is the holidays, the best thing for the kids is to get some action going. Climbing is one of the most physically challenging and fun activities a kid can do and there are now climbing gyms around KL. Learn about belaying and bouldering, and most importantly have fun doing a cool sport!
