Nomi Tomo translates to ‘Drinking Buddies’ in Japanese and the four partners of this new saké bar in Plaza Damansara are just that. These buddies got together and created a space where friends can hang out and drink saké, like how they used to when they met in Melbourne. The bar may not look like much during the day, but once the lights come on, the space gives off a warm and homey vibe with its wood panelling and minimal decor. Check out their wall of empty saké bottles, where they have hung up a collection of their favourites.
As you step out of the elevator, you are greeted with two saké barrels and two doorways. Turning right takes you to the spacious seating area with large wooden tables, plus a cosy low-table dining area tucked in a corner. The left doorway brings you to the focal point of Nomi Tomo, where bright lights shine on the main attraction behind the bar – the shelves of saké. At one end of the bar is a quirky water fountain hand-crafted out of ceramic carafes.
