Prize 1: One pair of tickets to The West Winds Gin x Time Out KL Masterclass on Aug 20, 1pm-2pm
Prize 2: One pair of tickets to the Gin Jubilee x Time Out KL Gin Ramble on Aug 19, 7pm-10pm
It's a celebration of all things gin as the annual East Imperial Gin Jubilee makes it to KL for the first time from August 18-20. The premier gin festival (hosted in Singapore yearly since 2013) means you'll be able to catch the region's best bartenders at work, sample creative variations of the classic Gin & Tonic, as well as explore gin culture.
Gin is one of the trendiest spirits of the moment, and you'll be able to learn more about renowned gin labels such as Hendrick's Gin and Bombay Sapphire. Crowd-favourite boutique brands like Monkey 47, Death’s Door and Sipsmith will also be featured at the festival.
You can expect a multi-day series of gin-related activities from master classes to pop-ups at Nagaba Rooftop, gin rambles hosted by Wholly Spirits and tastings, live stream distillery visits and the Gin Lane closing party at The Row, recreated to feel like the iconic Singaporean Gin Lane street party. Gin & Tonics by competing bars will be priced at RM20. There will also be an exclusive gin trail around KL on Aug 19 for 15 Time Out KL readers, as well as a Gin Ramble for the public starting from Hyde on the same day at 7pm (register via email to info@whollyspiritsasia.com).
If you love to witness a little friendly rivalry, see the top bars in town compete to create the most unique Gin & Tonic rendition. Bartenders to look out for include Jason Julian from 61 Monarchy, CK Kho from Coley, Rick from Coppersmith, Jeffri from Bar Enfin, Joanne Cerquillo from GravyBaby and more. Each bar will pair one of four East Imperial tonic waters with a partner gin brand and the rest of the recipe will be in the hands of the individual bartender to showcase their creativity. Winning bar and bartender will then wield a Silver Tankard for clinching the city's 'Best Gin & Tonic' and travel to Singapore in November to compete for the ultimate 'Asia's Best Gin & Tonic' crown at the jubilee's grand finale.
