Time Out says

Approaching Villa Cordevigo, I’m already in awe. This place is all about the details: cypress trees lining the long driveway leading up to the hotel’s entrance, gorgeous statues of Italian greyhounds and walls adorned with paintings of birds.

I’m led by friendly staff to my building, the Astolfo Suite, a luxurious red room with windows overlooking the property and the villa restaurant. The space screams old-school Italian glamour, all plush red velvet and golden drapes and furniture, lit by a huge chandelier. Best of all, it’s roomy. Downstairs you have a large dining table, a minibar and a spacious bathroom, upstairs you have a king bed and nightstands adorned with floral applique.

There are two restaurants on-site – Michelin-starred gourmet Oseleta for when you’re feeling fancy, and Ristorante Cordevigo for an informal alternative, where we enjoyed flavorful pasta dishes, fresh seafood and wines from the Cordevigo vineyard. The villa also has a spa that includes hot tubs, saunas and Turkish baths, a pool and pool bar, a quaint lobby bar and a wine tasting room.

Since I was staying on a vineyard, I had to book a wine tasting. Paolo, the Guest Relations Manager and resident wine enthusiast, leads the tastings and goes into detail about wine from different regions of Italy. I opted to try wines from the Villa Cordevigo’s own vineyard (when in Rome, right?) and didn’t regret it – don’t leave without trying the Villa Cordevigo Fiordilej, a golden wine with notes of honey, dried apricot and tropical fruits. Paolo was so friendly and made the tasting so enjoyable.

Wine, relaxation and acres of countryside – if you’re looking for a place to stay near Lake Garda that really feels like home, Villa Cordevigo is ideal.

Neighbourhood

The villa is located in a commune called Cavaion Veronese, just a 10 to 15-minute drive from popular Lake Garda towns including Bardolino and Cisano. Looking to experience the city of Romeo and Juliet? Verona is only a half-hour drive away.

Nearby

  1. Caval Matto: A quiet Osteria tucked away in the streets of Verona.
  2. Castello Scaligero di Lazise: A small castle located in Lazise, right off of Lake Garda.
  3. Lungolago di Bardolino: A beautiful walkway along Lake Garda, perfect for a morning walk after an espresso or an evening walk after dinner.

Time Out tip

Make sure to book a wine tasting during your stay. This unique experience allows you to try wines made from grapes grown on the property. Try the ‘Villa Cordevigo’ or the ‘Lake Garda’ tastings!
