We were introduced to Ops Café during the early stages of Karaköy’s gentrification. Now its creator Yasin Kalender has established a new venue near Ops Café, which he hopes to be a long-lasting business, just like the first one. Ops Passage’s service is sophisticated and much attention was paid to its classy decor – up to the cutlery and lighting that were designed especially for the restaurant – but it’s a place where you’ll feel relaxed.
In the kitchen, chef Ali Serkan Kılınç prepares a menu focusing on seafood that was supervised by Seray Öztürk, from the excellent neighboring Karaköy restaurant, Naif. Beet bread and buttered wasabi are tasty appetizers. Starters include options like the sea bass ceviche (24 TL) and the lamb liver mini burger (two pieces, 24 TL). As for the main meal, the duck burger (41 TL) is an excellent choice. Made from soya sauce, honey and shredded duck meat with lemon, it requires some effort to gulp it down but it is certainly worth a try. Another dish we recommend are the lamb chops (48 TL) that marry perfectly with the caramelized seasonal root vegetables. If you’re craving pasta, don’t leave without trying the spaghetti with spicy seafood (38 TL), or the homemade tagliatelle with green vegetables and goat cheese (28 TL). As for desserts, we recommend the oven-baked angel hair pastry with caramel sauce (18 TL) that’s ideal for sharing. After 23.30, the music’s volume goes up, and on weekends, the brunch menu starts from 10.00 onwards.
