Named in honor of Sadberk Koç, the late wife of the philanthropist and businessman Vehbi Koç, the Sadberk Hanım Museum occupies a 19th century Bosphorus mansion situated on the Sarıyer coast. Opened in 1980 as Turkey's first private museum, the Sadberk Hanım Museum is dedicated to the cultural and material history of the region and exhibits items from the 20,000-piece private collection of Sadberk Koç, including archaeological relics from Anatolian civilisations dating back to the 6th millennium BC to Byzantine era artefacts, Ottoman embroideries and more.
