This elegant building in Pera, the European neighbourhood of Istanbul during the Ottoman era, was saved from decades of neglect by an ambitious renovation project and served as a nice boutique hotel until it was acquired by the Marriott group, as it belonged to the famous banker family of Camondos. Although the rooms have lost some of their simple beauty after the restyling made by the international group, the hotel’s common areas impress as light-filled spaces with high ceilings and windows.
TIME OUT TIP: The hotel’s rooftop restaurant Beatrice offers scenic views of the Old City and a contemporary menu accompanied by live music.
