Established in 2009, the Panorama 1453 History Museum houses a huge panoramic painting depicting the conquest of Constantinople by the army of Sultan Mehmed II. Measuring 38m in diameter, this incredibly realistic and detailed painting took eight artists five years to complete, with 10,000 live models used for the project. The resulting 3D effect makes viewers feel as if they’ve been transported back in time to witness the historic siege. Further heightening the experience is the accompanying soundtrack of battle cries, cannon blasts and military marches played by the Ottoman Janissary band.
