Searching for romance in Tel Aviv can feel as useless as searching for meaning in a Pauly Shore movie. However, when you find that special someone – whether through an impulsive (possibly accidental) right swipe or running shirtless along the beaches of Tel Aviv – it’s important to make a lasting first impression. Time Out tried out all the Tel Aviv restaurants, wine bars, (and eligible bachelor/ettes) in search of the best places to take that new potential suitor. Quiet ambiance: check, mood lighting: check, liquid confidence: check.

Par Derriere's highlight is a magically designed garden out back, perfect for date night. The drink menu contains a large selection of fine wines, imported drinks, and artistic cocktails.

As a former art gallery, the October bar maintained the artist mentality, creating timeless masterpieces—only this time they are presented in the form of food. Though presented as a bar, the venue’s three owners (all born in October) sought to include delicious food on their menu. With tasty nibbles like leek fritters smothered in yogurt sauce and a wide variety of drinks and wine, October is the best spot for a first date.

A few blocks away from busy Rothschild Boulevard, you will find this hidden gem of Italian small plates or snacks known as “Cichetti.” Owner Avi Kashi opened Cichetti because he wanted a place where people could come in and casually taste a selection of delicious bites. That’s exactly what you should do.

Hidden inside the Imperial Hotel, the Imperial Craft Cocktail Bar is the top of the top when it comes to craft cocktails. This temple to the lost art of cocktail goes back to the source, featuring veteran bartenders from the younger years of the White City. This too-cool-for-school watering hole is the newest fad on the Allenby bar scene. Nilus bar - named after the Nile - combines high class hipster with lesbian-friendly vibes. The DJs, bartenders and managers are predominantly women bringing the spotlight down on Tel Aviv's art culture. Expect to meet directors, photographers, and budding artists while swirling a creative cocktail. And, when you want a break from the arts and culture, head upstairs for some recharging food or a smoke.

Whether meeting someone for the very first time or desperate for a date night away from the kids, the Peacock is the perfect getaway. This neighborhood establishment offers a twist on the classic Tel Avivian pick-up bar. With reliable service, great beer and funky, upbeat music, it’s no wonder the Peacock is loved by the locals. Bar owner, Shimon Meshel, pays a great deal of attention to every detail in the food menu which offers perfect hamburgers and fresh sea food alongside dishes from the Georgian kitchen. Specials are written on the chalkboard menus on the walls, and our suggestion is to taste as many of them as you can.

After the traumatic closing of Tel Aviv’s iconic music bar, Shesek, there was a hole in the White City’s revolutionary music scene. Well, not anymore. The bar’s former owner created a new little brother that fits just about 20 party goers. The large florescent “K” that marks K Bar pays homage to the once thriving Shesek.

Located on the bustling King George Street is Silon, an old neighborhood bar that has kept its unique character for the past 13 years. Although it’s considered an all time neighborhood bar, Silon still allows for a wild night out. The outdoor seating is great for people watching and talking, but inside you will need to work on your shouting skills, but the music is worth it. Silon serves delicious cocktails, including a Bloody Mary with a gin base rather than vodka that is definitely worth checking out, as well as certain beers otherwise hard to find in Israel. Silon has a happy hour offering 50% off the alcohol menu, which unlike other bars is available every day of the week and on weekends too.
