Choosing Tel Aviv for this project was almost too obvious. The White City offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of an urban metropolis, a city still in its phase of expansion, growth and definition. To outsiders, the city may mistakenly appear as one cohesive, monochrome entity. TLV Couples would like to expose the immensely diverse physical and human landscapes that make up Tel Aviv, through photographs and the personal stories of Tel Avivian couples. The couples participating in this project come from different backgrounds, ages, and occupations, and live in different parts of town.
This project was conceived and initiated by photographer Boris Chernykov, who recently moved to Tel Aviv and decided to make the city and its inhabitants his artistic subjects. Boris, co-owner and founder of Flea Studio, has developed his personal style of photography following years of experience in the field, particularly specializing in weddings and couples’ photography. Boris is joined by graphic and visual designer, Roni Rapoport, owner of “Roni Rapoport - Handmade Design,” and Yasmin DeRowe, assisting in the production and writing accompanying the project.
"Through the eyes of our couples, while employing a cohesive visual aesthetic, we offer you, our audience, a peek into the lives of others in the big city."
