At the beginning of August the Israeli Opera House will be filled with the captivating sound of gospel music. The Golden Gate Quartet, which has been a group of four rotating members since the 1930’s, are bringing their talents to Tel Aviv. The quartet was influential in the transition of gospel from a religious music primarily played in churches, to one widely celebrated and performed for large audiences. Known for their popular songs like “Swing Down Chariot,” and renditions of pieces by Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, the performance promises a night of joy and soul.
