The Eilat Port opened just before Israel gained its independence and allows for shipping to reach the Indian Ocean without having to pass through foreign naval blockades. While water traffic is relatively low in comparison to Israel’s other two major seaports on the Mediterranean, the port has recently adopted more cultural purposes: like hosting the winter edition of the Red Sea Jazz Festival, which benefits tremendously from the open space.
