In the Mugrabi neighborhood, also called the Mamilla neighborhood, in the center of a beautiful garden crafted of authentic Moroccan design, stands the ancient and beautiful building of the David Amar World Heritage Center of North African Jews. The uniqueness of the building reflects in its combination of ancient architecture characterizing 19th century Jerusalem and the Andalusian design that influenced North African countries, thus connecting between east and west, old and new.
In the yard of the center, an Andalusian garden was built, with unique mosaic works. On the south side of the garden stands arcades decorated with special mosaic designs and three original Moroccan fountains. The center has changing and permanent displays, showcasing the history and heritage of North African Jewry, alternating displays by various artists, an audio-visual collection that includes films, a special library, music, bibliography and pictures that tell the story of North African Jews and their heritage.
