With travel on the back burner and many of us missing Japan more than ever, it’s no wonder that news of Don Don Donki opening in Central and the list of restaurants that you can eat your way to Japan has piqued your interest. But if your craving for all things Japanese is yet to be satisfied, then you can consider joining a virtual tour and tasting of Kagoshima’s Mars Whisky Distillery on October 24.
A collaboration between Mizunara Hong Kong and Tabitto Japan, which is a licensed tour operator in Kagoshima, this virtual tour and tasting will be held virtually on Zoom. To start, Master Distiller Kusano-san, Distillery Manager Tsuchiya-san, and Ms Maya Aley, an experienced spirits specialist, will walk viewers through the distillery before live-streaming the whisky-making processes.
At the end of the tour, the team will then lead a tasting of three of their whiskies: Tsunuki the First, Tsunuki Aging 2019, and Komagatake Limited Edition 2020. These will be packaged in a tasting pack with three 30ml bottles, along with tasting notes, which will be delivered to your door.
Tickets to the virtual tour cost $200 each, while tickets including both the tour and tasting pack cost $690 each. Note that the tasting pack is exclusive to Hong Kong viewers only, and Mizunara offers free delivery upon ticket purchase.
In the event of any technical or connectivity problems at the organisers' end, the event may be rescheduled to a later date, but will not be rescheduled if the issues occur on the viewers’ end. By Elaine Wong
