National Day (October 1) falls on a Tuesday this year, and if you're staying in town for the celebrations, we’ve put together a list of the best activities you can get up to. From exquisite dinners and parties to freebies you can take advantage of – not to mention the stunning firework display – we’ve got you covered on October 1.

National Day celebrations at Regent Hong Kong

Celebrate National Day on October 1 with all your dearly beloved at Regent Hong Kong! With its prime waterfront location, the hotel offers a perfect gathering spot to catch the dazzling fireworks display over Victoria Harbour. Guests can choose from an array of exceptional dining experiences – all boasting fantastic views – where the culinary lineup is nothing short of impressive. 

The Lobby Lounge will be serving up a delightful four-course set dinner ($1,588 per person) featuring highlights like prawn tartare and braised wagyu beef cheek, while The Steak House is offering a robust five-course menu ($2,288 and a glass of Champagne per adult; $1,388 per child aged four to 11), showcasing the Boston lobster thermidor and prime meat selections from the USA, Australia, and Korea. As for those ready to elevate their dining game, two-Michelin-starred Lai Ching Heen will present an exquisite eight-course dinner ($3,088 per adult; $1,588 per child aged four to 11) with refinished Cantonese dishes like their signature golden stuffed crab shell with crab meat. Nobu Hong Kong is also joining the festivities with a unique eight-course menu ($2,288 per person) that blends Japanese and Peruvian flavours – think lobster cooked with a shiso salsa and wagyu beef paired with foie gras in a truffle teriyaki sauce. 

Lastly, make a toast to the special occasion at the stylish Qura Bar and lock in one of their table packages starting from $3,000 for four people, with a complimentary bottle of selected Champagne. Be sure to make a reservation beforehand as private dining patrons will also enjoy access to an outdoor harbourfront terrace with a stunning front-row view of the fireworks display! Free rides on Hong Kong trams

On October 1, members of the public can travel for free on all passenger tram routes on Hong Kong Island

Free ferry routes

Enjoy free ride on a number of ferry routes on October 1, including the Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai Star Ferry route, as well as Fortune Ferry routes going to and from North Point, Kwun Tong, and Kai Tak.

Discount on MTR fares

Passengers using the Octopus card to travel on the MTR, Light Rail, and MTR Bus will receive a 25 percent discount.

Free access to leisure facilities

A range of fee-charging leisure and cultural facilities managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, including most swimming pools, will offer free admission to the public on October 1.

Discounts on movie tickets

All commercial cinemas in Hong Kong will offer the public half-price discounts on movie tickets on October 1.

National Day menu at Watermark

To celebrate National Day, Watermark is hosting a one-day firework display celebration dinner menu for $698 per person. Start your evening with a delightful quartet of appetisers, including beetroot and burrata mousse, hamachi crudo, seared Hokkaido scallop, and Wagyu beef tartare, along with a rich lobster bisque to warm up your evening. For the main course, satisfy every craving with options like freshly sourced Patagonian toothfish, premium M7 Wagyu flat iron steak, and the signature grilled whole Boston lobster for an additional $198. Lastly, sweeten up your evening with the mango coconut pavlova, all while enjoying the dazzling fireworks display over Victoria Harbour. National Day Race Day

The annual National Day Race Day returns on October 1 at the Sha Tin Racecourse. In addition tothe G3 National Day Cup race, visitors can also enjoy various happenings such as traditional music and live performances. All racegoers can enjoy free admission to Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourse Public Enclosure.
