Everyone’s favourite week-long celebration of storytelling returns to town from March 4 to 10 this year. Check out the range of Hong Kong International Literary Festival (HKILF) events that will be taking place across various venues including book talks, panel discussions with authors, literary lunches and dinners, readings, workshops, and more. In particular, we can’t wait to hear from Sinophone expert Jing Tsu on her acclaimed book Kingdom of Characters, which delves into how visionaries’ modernisation of the Chinese language propelled the country into its meteoric rise; as well as our favourite food writer Fuschia Dunlop on her most recent book Invitation to a Banquet, which explores Chinese history and culture through 30 mouthwatering dishes.
Of course, Hong Kong talents will be strongly represented in the festival as well, with guests like Raymond Fung, Lui Ka Chun, and Chan Kit in attendance. The Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival will also run alongside the HKILF to foster accessibility and a love of reading in children from kindergarten to secondary school. Each of the festival’s events are ticketed separately and are on sale here.
