Taking place across the city – at Broadway Cinematheque, AMC Pacific Place and Movie Movie Cityplaza – throughout March, this year’s European Union Film Festival brings 16 new exciting films to Hong Kong for local cinephiles.
Highlights include opening film The Divine Order, a story set in 1970s Switzerland about the country’s suffragette movement and one woman’s crusade to earn her sex the right to vote. More contemporary is the highly topical Welcome to Germany, a film in which a recently retired teacher decides, against her sceptical husband’s will, to take in a refugee. Soon afterwards, a whirlwind of complications ensue.
