Explore the future of textiles as CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) celebrates its fifth anniversary with a seasonal programme featuring the ‘ANTEPRIMA x CHAT Contemporary Textile Art Prize’ showcase, along with a fascinating exhibition from their 2024 artist-in-residence. The programme dives into fresh perspectives on textile art from a global viewpoint, while also reflecting on our history through community collaboration. The ‘⁠ANTEPRIMA x CHAT Contemporary Textile Art Prize’ is all about supporting Asian artists with a global vision, and the winner has now been revealed! Congratulations to Yee I-Lann, Roziah Binti Jalalid, and Julitah Kulinting for winning the inaugural ANTEPRIMA x CHAT Contemporary Textile Art Prize Award. The international jury was impressed with the deep and joyous social engagement, outstanding textile technique, artistic innovation, and complexity displayed in their work. After a rigorous selection process spanning 18 months, the exhibition will present the exceptional works of all finalists. There will also be an exhibition running from now to February 23, 2025, where visitors can explore the finalists’ works and vote for their favourite piece for the Audience Prize, with the winner announced on March 3, 2025.
