Aside from checking out Christmas markets and displays, why not book yourself into some Christmas workshops and come out with some lovingly handmade gifts? Bond with friends and family and learn how to make unique gifts from the festive creative workshops available this season.

SoulSoap

Local handcrafted soap brand SoulSoap is collaborating with floral artisans Flowerworks Fleuriste to host a Christmas wreath and soap making workshop. At the end of the two-and-a-half-hour workshop, you can take home a fresh wreath that can last between one to two months, and a piece of moisturising snowflake snow. Stop by the SoulSoap space in Lai Chi Kok on December 12 or 21 to take part – the workshop costs $780 per person, or $680 per person if two tickets are purchased together.

Wonderland

Leave your troubles at the door and immerse yourself in creating something with your hands at Wonderland. This arts and nature studio has been around since 2020, and offers a selection of Christmas courses, including making Noble fir Christmas trees and wreaths, as well as handmade festive perfume. Workshops range from $390 to $680, and you’ll bring home lovely trinkets to look back fondly on.

The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong

Get into the festive spirit by crafting your own Christmas ornaments at this interactive workshop. The Ritz-Carlton’s expert instructors will guide participants through each process, so it’s suitable for all skill levels – even children aged six and above. Even if you’re not splurging on a fancy staycation this year, you can have a piece of the hotel with you for Christmas. The workshop costs $620 for one adult and one child.

Habitū

DIY your own Christmas tree or wreath with Habitū’s workshops. The cafe will provide fresh greenery, natural dried fruits, and other such ornaments for participants to make festive decorations that look and smell like the very spirit of Christmas. This holiday workshop will run for one day only on December 14, at the Mikiki branch in San Po Kong, and will cost $498 per person.

Rosewood Hong Kong

Blooms & Blossoms in Rosewood Hong Kong is hosting a Christmas wreath arrangement workshop, led by their in-house florist designer. These sessions are suitable for all skill levels, and participants are encouraged to try their hand at self-expression through decorating, guided with basic techniques to more advanced arrangements. The wreath workshops run every Thursday and Sunday through the month of December, and cost $1,000.

Soil

Head to PMQ to join a Christmas tree workshop by this traditional crafts studio tucked away on the third floor. Participants will learn to make a miniature Christmas tree and craft some ornaments using Noble fir branches, taking home a slice of festive magic. The session will be led by botanical design specialist Ellie Kam, who used to be the chief florist of The Peninsula Hong Kong, heading up the floral design throughout the five-star hotel. Register before December 16 to enjoy an early-bird price of $890, otherwise normal entry to this workshop will cost $950.

The Upper House

Bimbo Concept and Lavish Florist are collaborating for this workshop in which participants are guided through the process of making Christmas wreaths with natural materials. Since it’s crafted from real trees, the wreaths can stay fresh in the home for up to six weeks, making for an elegant addition to your holiday decor. Tickets are available for $1,080, and includes access for two adults and one child.

Local fragrance company BeCandle is once again working with The Grey Green to bring back their Christmas workshops. Utilising seasonal flowers and plants, participants can learn to make either Christmas trees or wreaths, as well as design a custom room fragrance spray. The fruits of your labour will be stored in specially designed packaging boxes, so these can easily make for a thoughtful Christmas present. Both these workshops are available for $1,480.

Light up your festive days with this Christmas shadow box workshop at Bonart. Using LED lights, festive ornaments, moss, preserved flowers, mini figurines, and more, participants can create their own little winter landscape within a wooden box frame. All tools and materials will be provided, and you can choose to build an enchanted forest, a mysterious winter scene, or even your very own customised setting. This two-hour workshop costs $520.

Cut n Carve

Candle art specialists Cut n Carve have a variety of workshops this Yuletide season, ranging from simple and child-friendly to more fanciful. Options include making candles in the shape of 3-D Santa Claus or snowmen, elaborate candle sculptures, tealight holders featuring snowy scenes, or candles in fancy glass jars surrounded by Christmas wreaths. Workshops range from $490 to $950.
