While not specifically Christmas themed, you can make Bonart’s regular terrarium workshops festive with little Christmas decorative trinkets. Choose from moss, succulent, bonsai, or air plant terrariums, which you can then decorate as you please. Sessions run from Tuesdays to Sundays at their Tai Kwun or Kwun Tong locations – click here for more details.

Island Shangri-La

Island Shangri-La has come up with an interesting range of festive workshops this year, including learning how to make a standard Christmas wreath, edible Christmas wreaths made of pretzel (!!), customising your own Shangri-La airship, and – our favourite – creating your own wooden nutcracker. Workshops start from $438, and will be conducted in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin depending on sessions. Tickets are available here.

Master of art of creating a warming cup of Christmas-themed coffee at one of our favourite coffee shops. It’s not just latte art you’ll be doing here, as the coffee trainers will also be teaching the theory of milk frothing so your art – from delicate snowflakes to Christmas trees – can be displayed on the perfect cuppa. Held on December 16 and 23, the workshop costs $650 per person, and each participant will also receive two $100 F&B vouchers to Noc. Register your interest here.

Bring little ones along to Rosewood Hong Kong for a range of four private children’s workshops. These specially designed sessions include Christmas cookie decorating with Butterfly Patisserie’s pastry specialists; designing a mini Christmas tree in a jar with Blooms & Blossoms’ resident florist; festive glass painting; and an eco Christmas card workshop using upcycled materials.

Citywalk Christmas Village

Citywalk is recreating a festive European village this Christmas with attractions such as a 12-metre outdoors Christmas tree, a festive red wooden house, and a model exhibition of famous trains from Europe and America. Rail enthusiasts will be glad to know that apart from a pop-up store selling model trains, there will also be workshops where both children and parents alike can set up model train sets and learn about the STEM principles behind them from a professional instructor. The workshop will be held every Sunday as long as the Christmas village is running.

Head on over to I Love Babycakes’ kitchen in Wanchai and learn how to make a choice of Christmas-themed butter cookies, Christmas cake pops, or classic gingerbread men. We can just imagine bringing these to a Christmas party and wowing everyone there. Two to four attendees can join group classes ($750), while groups of five to 16 people can have private sessions – request availability here.
