From today, March 12, 2020, Rech by Alain Ducasse, at TST’s InternContinental Hong Kong, closes its doors on another unfortunate day for Hong Kong’s food and drink scene. The Rech restaurant chain originally opened in 1925, and then was revived by Ducasse in 2007, with this branch opening its doors in March 2017 as the first of the famous seafood chain to operate outside of France.
Unfortunately, with months of civil unrest and now huge disruptions to the restaurant industry caused by the continued spread of the coronavirus, closures like this are becoming far from unusual. The InternContinental have announced that the hotel “will continue to work with Ducasse Paris on the development of a new restaurant concept to be launched following the hotel’s major renovation and consequent rebranding to Regent Hong Kong, with an anticipated reopening in 2022,” which brings some good news for foodies.
