Moon Tong Lok specialises in dishes that you're more likely to find in Shanghai and Beijing. From the shop's signature sticky rice rolls ($23), to other crowd favourites such as hot and sour soup ($27), savoury soy milk ($7) and dumplings ($36).
The sticky rice rolls here are pretty big and come stuffed with ingredients, so you definitely get bang for your buck. If you want to try multiple dishes then we suggest you bring a couple of pals to pick a few more things on the menu and share. But if you do go alone, then it's worth considering a set menu. The set with a sticky rice roll and soy milk ($28) is the most affordable. Dumpling lovers will also love their cabbage or chive dumplings, which are well seasoned and seriously moreish.
All dishes are made to order to ensure freshness, and you really get value for your money here. It's no wonder that the shop is loved by so many including local neighbours that have been eating there since it opened in Hung Hom 25 years ago. There are only three large tables inside the small eatery, and there are often long queues, even during non-peak hours. So be prepared to wait, but trust us when we tell you it'll be worth it.
