Peruvian guest chef Arturo Melendez – better known to Hongkongers as th chef behind former Soho hotspot Chicha – brings the vibrant flavours of Peru to Wan Chai Spanish diner The Optimist for ten nights this November. On offer are ten impressive dishes combining Peruvian fare and The Optimist's signature bold asador flavours, with dishes including Su Choclo & Edamame Mas, a mix of Peruvian corn, feta, lime and aji amarillo (a bright orange chili native to South America) and the Causita de Langostinos, a langoustine tartare with spicy garlic mayo. Bigger dishes include the Wagyu Saltado, a Peruvian take on a classic Chinese stir fry with grilled rib eye and flash-fried vegetables accompanied by a soy sauce reduction and chimichurri. Seafood lovers will adore the Anticucho de Pulpo, a charcoal grilled octopus with black olives and basil chips straight from the restaurant's traditional Spanish grill.
