Frantzén’s Kitchen, which was helmed by executive chef Jim Löfdahl, may be gone but it has been replaced with Löfdahl’s new endeavour, Embla, in exactly the same location in 2022. Much like its predecessor, the restaurant is a contemporary Nordic restaurant but offers a more fine dining experience in a sleek and sophisticated space. The menu is seasonally-driven. Kick off your dining experience by dipping crisp bread into their indulgent Gubbröra dish, a mouthwatering blend of smoked eel, pickled herring, eggs, dill, and chives, topped generously with imperial Ossetra Caviar and paired perfectly with ice-cold Gustav dill vodka that elevates the umami flavours of the dish.
Other highlights on the tasting menu ($1288 per person) include bite-sized Nordic snacks, Norwegian langoustine paired with teardrop peas, and Aged duck served with spring carrots, orange, and sea buckthorn sauce. Enhance your meal with their wine pairing option ($988), and feel free to ask for recommendations from their diverse wine selection. Conclude your meal with rapeseed oil sorbet and a glass of dessert wine, or opt for a dram of whisky and gin as a digestif from their extensive range of Nordic spirits not found elsewhere in the city.
