Tucked away in an alley in the heart of Central, Bentori is a small but contemporary Japanese restaurant specialising in skewers and creative sake cocktails. The signature chicken skewers all use local three-yellow chicken, focusing on the traditional cooking method. Bentori uses a special grill from Japan that heats up to 800-1,000 degrees which helps to sear quickly, locking in all the juices for a tender and succulent meat skewer.
We recommend the chicken thighs with shiso leaf, chicken hearts, chicken cartilage, and mozzarella cheese skewers. Other must-orders include the foie gras rice in which the foie gras is generous in size, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and mentaiko udon which is not overly salty or strong in flavour – perfect for pairing with the skewers. The restaurant is equipped with a Chef’s menu, recommended by the host, for $350/person.
