A survey conducted by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) in 2016 revealed that a sizable proportion of tech talent in Hong Kong were in search of affordable space that could serve both work and live. Enter InnoCell, a curated co-creation and smart living space designed to bring together R&D talent within Hong Kong Science Park – the city’s largest incubation and innovation hub. Its use of shared spaces and smart living technology helps to build interaction and collaboration, resulting in a network of like-minded talent who inspire one another.

The largest on-campus accommodation in Hong Kong

A pilot project aimed at providing affordable arrangements, at a fraction of market rent, for local and overseas talent. InnoCell stands at 17 storeys high, as the largest on-campus accommodation in Hong Kong to date. InnoCell is a thoughtful balance between aesthetics and functionality, and its vision is to develop an I&T co-creation community through design that serves its residents' needs.

17-storey multifunctional communal space

In addition to a fully-furnished private room, InnoCell offers a well rounded living experience with approximately 30,000 square feet of tailored communal amenities to work, live, play and gather. The building features considered balance and continuous connectivity between workstations, knowledge exchanges areas, play zones, outdoor spaces, and clubhouse facilities so that people and ideas can flow seamlessly. 'We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better workplace for the I&T community and a better innovation for the greater good of society,' says Albert Wong, CEO of HKSTP.

Smart and seamless end-to-end solution

InnoCell features cutting-edge technology to enhance tenant experience and operational efficiency, this includes keyless mobile door access, facial recognition, home automated system, personal Google butler, and more. Residents can manage their stay, access key facilities and services through the InnoCell Living mobile app. They can make payments within the building using the app’s secure payment system - no cash or contact needed here.

Showcase of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC)

A combination of modern ground-breaking design and built-in technology to deliver a seamless and personalised experience, InnoCell is setting a new standard for smart spaces. It is the first high-rise building completed in Hong Kong using MiC (Modular Integrated Construction), a new age construction technology where free-standing modules are built and finished in the factory before being transported to the site for installation.

R&D community with shared values

In addition to knowledge-exchange events, InnoCell hosts a social calendar of happenings. The focus at HKSTP goes far beyond building infrastructure and providing support services, but creating a community that lives and breathes their passion for I&T. This is why InnoCell applicants are selected to ensure that they are aligned with a common goal to inspire progress, create impact, and instigate change.

Co-creation is the capacity to work together to generate ideas, solve problems, and exploit new opportunities. It’s the ebb and flow between different types of work, roles and perspectives. Physical space helps shape human behaviour, which compounds over time to create culture, and facilitate a creative ecosystem. InnoCell provides a custom space for like-minded innovators to harness and hone their talent, exchange ideas and pursue the next big I&T breakthrough.
