Our long wait is finally over – after months of hyping up the city, British alt-rock band Coldplay will finally take the stage in Hong Kong for four nights this week! This marks the band’s first time back in Hong Kong since their Viva La Vida tour back in 2009, so everyone’s understandably excited about seeing the quartet perform live. Read on for everything you need to know about the Music of the Spheres concerts before you head out.

Can I still buy tickets for Coldplay’s Hong Kong concert?

To no one’s surprise, the original three dates for the Hong Kong leg of the concert have long since been sold out. Even after adding one more concert date and two rounds of ticket drops, Coldplay tickets have been rapidly snapped up by eager Hongkongers. If you’ve managed to beat the online queues, good for you, and if not, then look out for posts and stories as we’re sure social media will be flooded with Coldplay clips this week.

What time will the doors open for the concert?

Hong Kong fans will be gathering to see this legendary band at the main stadium of the brand-new Kai Tak Sports Park on April 8, 9, 11, and 12, 2025. The doors open at 5pm, and you’ll definitely need to arrive early to get through security and ticket checking.

What time does Coldplay start performing?

Special guests will open for the main act starting at 6.10pm – see below for who these artists are. Coldplay will take the stage at 8pm, so make sure you’re present and ready well ahead of time.

How do I get to Kai Tak Stadium for the Coldplay concerts?

MTR

Due to the huge amount of attendees expected at the venue, there will be no public parking or drop-off at Kai Tak Sports Park during the Coldplay concerts, so instead of carpooling an Uber with friends, your best bet is to take public transport. The easiest way is to get the MTR; alight at either Sung Wong Toi or Kai Tak Station and take exit D, then follow the signage.

Public transport

Alternatively, there are over 40 bus routes that stop by the Kai Tak Sports Park area from all over the territories. If you alight at the Kai Tak Public Transport Interchange or the bus stop on Shing Kai Road, the stadium is roughly a 15-minute walk away, or if you get off at Kowloon City Interchange, then expect a 25-minute stroll. You can also hop on a ferry from the North Point Ferry Pier to the Kowloon City Ferry Pier – these run every half an hour.

Taxi/car

If you absolutely must arrive via car, then public taxis will be able to drop you off only at the designated areas for Kai Tak Stadium and Kai Tak Arena. These areas will only be available for passenger drop-offs before the concerts start, and not for people leaving the venue after the concerts end. Private cars including Ubers will only be able to drop off passengers at the Ma Tau Kok Road drop-off point near To Kwa Wan Road, which is approximately a nine-minute walk to the stadium.

Special traffic arrangement for Hong Kong Coldplay concert

MTR railway services on the Tuen Ma Line and East Rail Line will run more frequently on concert days, timed to coincide with the end of the events. There will also be 11 special bus routes waiting to take concertgoers across the territories; see below for specific details.

Cross-boundary concertgoers who need to travel back to mainland China will also be able to board two special bus routes to border ports, or board cross-boundary coaches outside gate H of the Kai Tak Stadium. Click here for more information.

Where should I enter the Kai Tak Stadium from?

Depending on the location of your seat or your standing area, each ticket has been assigned a specific entry gate to the Kai Tak Stadium. This can be found on the ticket itself, and will also determine the security checkpoint you’ll go through. Gates X and B will be for standing ticket holders, while gates A and C to K will be for seated tickets. Refer to the organiser’s guide below for finding your gate.

Where can I buy Coldplay merchandise?

There will be official band merch available for sale both inside and outside the stadium. Ticket holders should go to either the second floor in the Kai Tak Stadium Celebration Hall or to the East Village, since these sales points are only open if you show your tickets. This is open from 3pm to 11pm. The general public can visit the ground floor of the Kai Tak Arena Sports Hall, open from 11am to 12am. If you buy an ‘Everyone Is An Alien Somewhere’ water bottle, you can receive a voucher to redeem special goods on the same day after the concert ends at the Arena Sports Hall location.

Otherwise, there will also be a Coldplay merch pop-up at Airside from April 6 to 27 – click here for more details.

Will there be bag checks at Kai Tak Stadium?

Yes, all bags will be searched before being allowed to enter the venue. Handbags and backpacks must also not exceed 38cm x 30cm x 20cm. As might be expected of such a high-profile event, there is quite a laundry list of things that are prohibited from the concert venue.

Things you cannot bring to the Coldplay concerts:

  • Professional cameras
  • Camcorders
  • GoPro cameras
  • Detachable lens cameras
  • Telephoto lenses
  • Phone detachable lenses
  • Tablets
  • Laptops
  • Selfie sticks
  • Recording devices
  • Telescopes
  • Banners
  • Laser pens
  • Remote-controlled aerial devices
  • Plastic, glass, or thermos bottles and cups, or aluminium cans or bottles, that are over 600ml

However, concertgoers are allowed to bring empty plastic or silicone reusable bottles and cups that are 600ml or less into Kai Tak Stadium. If you do happen to have restricted items, they can be stored in the cloakrooms outside the stadium before you enter.

Who are Coldplay’s special guests in Hong Kong?

So far in their world tour, Coldplay has brought on a supporting act as a mystery guest at every city, and Hong Kong’s has been confirmed to be Marf Yau from local girl band Collar as well as Palestinian-Chilean singer-songwriter Elyanna, who has previously performed alongside Coldplay at Glastonbury and on Saturday Night Live.

Are there food and drink options near the Kai Tak Stadium?

Whether you choose to dine before or after the Coldplay concert, there are plenty of options in Kai Tak. The sports park has an F&B area called the Dining Cove that sits right under the stadium, along the harbourfront, and this is open from 12 noon to 8pm. Otherwise, there are also a range of eateries in the Kai Tak Mall, which open from 10am to 10pm. Have a look at our guide to the Kai Tak Sports Park for more to see, do, and eat.

How should I leave Kai Tak Stadium after the concert?

The worst part of attending these large-scale events is having to jostle with what feels like half the city going home at the same time. If you don’t want to squeeze into the MTR, which is likely to be the most crowded form of transport leaving the area, there will be 11 special bus routes operating from the Sung Wong Toi Road special bus pick-up area. These buses will head to Central, Siu Sai Wan, Tseung Kwan O, Mong Kok, Tsing Yi, Tuen Mun, Lohas Park, Tin Shui Wai, and Sheung Shui, stopping at other neighbourhoods along the way – just look out for the routes labelled with SP followed by numbers.

Over 40 normal bus routes running through the Kai Tak Sports Park area mentioned earlier will also be available, as well as the aforementioned taxis and private car arrangements at their designated pick-up spots nearby.
