Another month, another five-star hotel opening in Hong Kong. Just kidding. Sort of. Spring has been a busy season for high-end properties, with the Rosewood launching a little less than two weeks ago. Now comes news that the highly anticipated St Regis is opening its doors in April.
The luxury hotel has been in the works for well over a year. It was initially scheduled to open at the start of 2019, but then that date was pushed back to June. Evidently, the timeline has been accelerated again and that’s exciting news for everyone.
Located on Harbour Drive in Wan Chai, St Regis certainly boasts an enviable setting, even if the views aren’t quite as epic as they are on the Kowloon side of the harbour. Worry not, though, as the hotel interiors were planned by André Fu, one of Hong Kong’s leading designers (who has also been busy lately). What it might lack in iconic views, it will more than make up for in style.
There will be 112 superior rooms and 17 signature suites, the latter category offering as much as 2,583 sq ft of space. Beyond the ample space, there’s the kind of personalised, discreet services that St Regis is known for, including 24-hour butler and e-butler services (whatever that is).
We’re most excited about the food and beverage outlets, though. Those include a French fine dining restaurant, L’Envol and a high-end Chinese restaurant, Rùn. Both will boast some Michelin-recognised firepower, too. L’Envol is led by Olivier Elzer (L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Seasons) while Rùn is in the hands of Hung Chi-kwong, formerly of Man Wah. Jazz fans will have a new venue to visit as well where the St Regis Bar will bring its elevated brand of live jazz and craft cocktails to the city’s nightlife scene. Good stuff all around.
