As the anti-government protests in Hong Kong surpass the 100-day mark yet show no signs of slowing down, Hong Kong's government announced that this year's National Day fireworks display in Victoria Harbour has been cancelled for public safety concerns. This cancellation comes despite cities in mainland China gearing up for large scale parades and celebrations to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
