Hot on the heels of the news that Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and AC Milan are coming to town for two friendly matches this summer, it has been confirmed that Manchester United will also be playing in Hong Kong this year.
This marks the first time that Hong Kong has seen Man United in over 10 years, since their last visit in 2013. These matches are also the first time that the team will be doing a post-season tour.
When and where will Manchester United play in Hong Kong?
Immediately after their final 2024/25 Premier League match against Aston Villa on May 25, the Red Devils will be jetting off to Asia for a match in Kuala Lumpur on May 28, followed by Hong Kong on Friday, May 30. Catch them playing against our national team in the Hong Kong Stadium at 8pm.
Which Man U players will be in Hong Kong?
In a press conference on Thursday, April 10, Manchester United’s director of tour and friendlies Christofferr Komen reassured Hong Kong’s football fans that even though key players are not required for international duties, we will still be able to see a lineup of stars, including captain Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and more.
How much are tickets to see Man U?
Tickets will be released at 12 noon on April 11, with prices ranging from $390 to suite level access at $2,990. Considering the team is playing in Hong Kong Stadium instead of the newer, bigger Kai Tak Stadium, fans can expect a scramble for tickets.
What is a post-season tour?
As implied in the name, post-season games are played after the regular sports season – the English football league season runs from August to May. While clubs regularly travel abroad for pre-season matches, post-season tours are a newer phenomenon, and have been criticised as increased workload that undermines the health of players already grappling with the international match calendar. Under the ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United has undergone some pretty aggressive cost-cutting measures, including job cuts, tightening expenses, and raising ticket prices at Old Trafford. The fixtures of this Asia tour could generate US$10 million for the club.
