The battle between Hong Kong’s major theme parks is about the heat up again as Ocean Park opens its first hotel this week. Looking to lure customers away from Disneyland’s three existing hotels, the Marriott is aiming to become Hong Kong’s go-to urban retreat.
Claiming to the city’s first city resort hotel, Ocean Park Marriott Hotel houses 471 rooms with three types of Ocean Park-themed décor to choose from – Whiskers’ Submarine, Bao Bao Paradise and Redd Forest (for that real ‘sleep with the pandas’ vibe’). Naturally, it also comes complete with a large lagoon pool to provide the full marine-park experience.
There are also four restaurants and bars that are worth making the trip to Wong Chuk Hang for. Whether it’s the American steakhouse or the ocean-themed bar, they all offer fantastic Southside views and serve WWF-certified sustainable seafood. Staying at the hotel also grants you exclusive experiences that ordinary park-goers won’t get including enjoying breakfast with animals and access to various animal programmes at the park.
Though currently in its soft opening, you can now book a room for later in the month. Maybe it’s time to get re-acquainted with all the rollercoaster rides while you’re there.
