You've probably been to the city’s first socially distanced entertainment hub, The Grounds, located at the AIA Vitality Park. Now, there's even more of a reason to visit the area as the Hong Kong Observation Wheel partners with the park to launch a new Augmented Reality (AR) app that enables users to learn about the city’s rich history and check out the beauty of Hong Kong's past and present landmarks.

Presenting stunning visuals from different eras, the app will showcase landmarks such as the original Peak Tram, Lion Rock, and the original Star Ferry Pier from the 1890s to 1920s. App users can also learn about Hong Kong’s economic progress and expansion of manufacturing with visuals such as squatter villages of Lion Rock, The Hilton International, and the old Kai Tak Airport between the 1960s to 1980s. There's even a nifty feature that overlays the historical landmarks over the actual harbour view of the present day!

The best thing about the app? It's entirely free for download. Once you have installed the app on your phone, open the application and look for an AR symbol around the observation wheel area. Simply scan the sign with your device, and the AR content will appear right in front of your eyes. Move your device around and enjoy some AR fun! The mobile app is now available for downloads on IOS and Android, in English, traditional Chinese, and simplified Chinese. Erika Yip
