Sure, we have our ups and downs when it comes to loving this city, but there's no denying that our tightly packed city has it all. From the incredibly diverse food and bar scene to our world-class transport system, the sights, sounds, and experiences to be had are never-ending.

So, it's no surprise that in Time Out's annual ranking of the world's best cities for 2025, Hong Kong has managed to climb its way to number 14, ranking third in Asia behind Bangkok at number 2 and Shanghai in 9th place. This marks our highest ranking yet, jumping a remarkable 35 spots from last year's position at number 49.

This year, our list was compiled using insights gathered from a survey where we asked thousands of city dwellers around the world about everything from the affordability and quality of food to the nightlife scene and how easy it is to simply walk around to places.

Not only did Hong Kong earn the title of the world’s safest city in our survey, but we also topped the charts for convenience. That might explain why the city’s public transport network also got the highest ranking of all, with a whopping 98 percent of Hongkongers giving it a thumbs up. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows; many locals seem to struggle with finding love in the city, as only 23 percent of folks ranked it 'Good' or 'Amazing', while only eight percent of people find Hong Kong to be a relaxing city.
