Hong Kong government cancels Chinese New Year fireworks

Following Saturday’s tragic bus accident in Tai Po that killed 19 Hongkongers and injured dozens, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam has announced that the government is cancelling the city’s annual Chinese New Year fireworks set to take place this Saturday evening.

Although the Lunar New Year fireworks have been cancelled, the annual Chinese New Year night parade is confirmed to still be taking place this Friday.
